Soon in Osijek?
Osijek, located in Eastern Croatia is currently the only international airport in Croatia that is not served by any airline. Although Germanwings planned to commence flights between the city and Cologne, it did not do so due to its inability to come to an agreement with Osijek Airport management. However, now there are renewed hopes that another low cost carrier might be interested in commencing flights to the city. The airline in question is Ryanair which already operates flights to Pula and Zadar inside Croatia. RyanAir showed interest in commencing flights to Osijek last summer however it did not have the equipment to do so. This time around it is a different story and Osijek could soon be directly connected with London. The new flights would operate twice weekly from London Stansted Airport to Osijek. A final agreement is expected by mid February while flights are expected to commence in April 2009. Stansted is London’s third largest airport, located some 70km from the city centre. Ryanair is currently the world’s largest low cost carrier with bases across Europe.
Flight information regarding these flights will be displayed in the “New Route Launches” section on the right hand side which is regularly updated.
