Virgin Blue Group of Airlines is today advising of some changes to current travel charges.
These changes are being made in response to current high global fuel prices which Virgin Blue has been absorbing for some time. The changes will result in some of these costs being partially recovered.
Virgin Blue will increase the international fuel surcharge on VAustralia flights to Los Angeles and other USA destinations.
For tickets sold from 9 March, 2011 the fuel surcharge will be:
• USA $115AUD each way – previously $85AUD each way
We will continue to closely monitor fuel prices and we will always keep our airfares at the most competitive level for our guests.
Further, we are today advising of changes to baggage charges as follows:
• Baggage prepaid online
• Increase from $10 to $12 for all domestic routes
• Baggage fees paid at airport
• Increase from $20 to $40 for all domestic routes (Virgin Blue)
• Increase from $40 to $60 for all international routes (Pacific Blue)
• Excess Baggage fees paid at airport
• Increase from $10 to $15 for all Virgin Blue and Pacific Blue routes
The changes will apply from 1 March, 2011.
