TURBINE ENGINES, PROP ANTI-ICE BOOT, AND PROP ANTI-ICE AMMETER


TURBINE ENGINES
The turbine engine produces thrust by increasing the velocity of the air flowing through the engine. It consists of an air inlet, compressor, combustion chambers, turbine section, and exhaust.

PROP ANTI-ICE BOOT
The boot is divided into two sections: inboard and outboard. When the anti-ice is operating, the inboard section heats on each blade, and then cycles to the outboard section. If a boot fails to heat properly on one blade, unequal ice loading may result, causing severe vibration.

PROP ANTI-ICE AMMETER
When the system is operating, the prop ammeter will show in the normal operating range. As each boot section cycles, the ammeter will fluctuate.

Engine has the following advantages over a reciprocating engine: less vibration, increased aircraft performance, reliability, and ease of operation.
