A very tidy unit.

De Havilland Canada DHC-1A1 Chipmunk , c/n 34 , was one of a batch built for the Indian Government and was assembled at Bombay as VT-CVM and delivered on 28-02-1949 to Bamrauli. It served with the Bengal Flying Club until being withdrawn from use in the late 1970's. It was one of five airframes imported into NZ : Now there must be a story there somewhere :
It was registered as ZK-CVM (using the last three letters of its Indian registration) on 03-04-2003 to Don Penniall and first flew from Rangiora on 12-04-2003.

As can be seen from the photos, I took today (13-10-2010) at Rangiora, it is in a pseudo Canadian miltary scheme, including the blown canopy, and uses the last three letters of its registration and its c/n as markings on either side of the Canadian Maple Leaf roundel.
This tidy little aircraft is for sale if you are interested.
