DFW International Airport today celebrated the launch of American Eagle Airlines daily nonstop service to a pair of new destinations in Mexico, Veracruz and Querétaro. The new destinations comprise two of the seven new international routes that DFW will launch in fiscal year 2011, six of them to new destinations.
“DFW is very pleased to add American Eagle’s new service to Querétaro and Veracruz to the Airport’s growing route network,” said Jeff Fegan, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer. “The robust connections available here make our Airport one of the top gateways to Mexico, and we offer quick and easy connections for travelers from Mexico as well.”
The additions of Veracruz and Querétaro bring the number of destinations served or announced from DFW to a total of 188 cities, including 144 domestic and 44 international destinations.
“We are pleased to expand American’s network to 16 cities in Mexico with more than 300 weekly frequencies operated by American Airlines and American Eagle,” said Peter Dolara, American Airlines Senior Vice President for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. “These daily nonstop flights will link customers from throughout Central Mexico and the Gulf Coast region with American’s largest hub, offering convenient connections throughout the American and oneworld® global networks.”
The new service continues an impressive run of destination additions for DFW over the past four years. DFW and its airline partners have added a total of 24 nonstop destinations since 2008. Already in fiscal year 2011, DFW has seen the start of American Airlines service to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Caribbean island nation of Barbados. In May of this year, Qantas Airways will begin service between DFW and Brisbane and Sydney, Australia.

American Eagle will serve Veracruz with Embraer ERJ-145 regional jets seating 50 passengers, and the Querétaro route will utilize 37-seat ERJ-135 aircraft.
