Vnesheconombank (VEB, English : Bank of Foreign Economic Activity) give Indonesia a loan of 5.95 million dollars that the country can spend on buying Russian military equipment, Interfax reported. Corresponding loan agreement has been signed. Received from Russia means the Finance Ministry of Indonesia intends to spend on funding the contract with Rosoboronexport. The purchase of weapons is in question did not specify.
Indonesia is not the first time resorted to the Russian export credit for the purchase of arms and military equipment. In September 2007, Russia agreed to give Indonesia a billion dollars on the purchase of armored Marine Corps BMP-3F, transport helicopters Mi-17, attack Mi-35M, and submarine of Project 877 "Kilo". Part of this technique, Indonesia has already received and the contract for the purchase of submarines is going to conclude this year.
In September 2010, the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia has announced that it intends in the next 20 years to purchase 180 Russian fighter brand "Sukhoi". Of these, ten squadrons will be formed. Currently, the armament of the country adopted two Su-30MK, three Su-30MK2, two Su-27SK and three Su-27SKM. Fighters versions of SK and MK will be upgraded to versions of SKM and MK2. In addition, in 2011 Indonesia plans to order in Russia six Su-30MK2.
