Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is globally recognized as a leader in the development of both military and commercial aerospace technology employs over 15,000 employees.IAI makes both military and civilian air crafts and also involved the production of missiles, unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and defense elctronics.Israel Aerospace Industries was established in 1953 as Bedek Aviation Company, five years after the establishment of the State of Israel.The Avocet ProJet, a 6-8 seat, high utilization air taxi,was a cheaper version of very light jet aircraft launched by IAI in 2003. The Arrow anti-tactical ballistic missile, Israel's answer to the threat of short and medium-range ballistic missiles, is currently in development at IAI, in cooperation with the Israel Ministry of Defense and the US Ballistic Missile Defense Organization.On November 6, 2006 Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. ("IAI") officially changed its corporate name to Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. The company is currently working with the Aviation Technology Group on a military trainer version of the ATG Javelin, a fighter style personal jet.
