We are currently looking for a Technical Writer to work at our office in Richmond, BC.
Responsibilities
A contract technical writer is required to assist the Technical Communications group in writing online Help and user guides. The technical writer will be responsible for creating and updating end-user documentation and training material in various media, including WebHelp, PDF documents and PowerPoint presentations. This position requires close interaction with other functional groups and knowledge of the software documentation principles, tools, and processes. Deliverables include complex WebHelp systems, user guides and training material, written in accordance with well-established style conventions.
Requirements
Function independently to perform research and write clear and accurate user guides and Help topics, providing delivery as per assigned target dates.
Write task-based Help topics and develop training videos that clearly show or instruct end users on using the software to successfully perform their business processes.
Take direction with regard to content and style issues, and to closely conform to the high writing standards of the Technical Communications group.
Editing and proofreading, as required.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Expert Working Knowledge of:
Adobe RoboHelp for HTML authoring
Microsoft Office Suite
Macromedia Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, or similar product
any Source Control tool.
B.A. in English or any other writing-related discipline or college diploma in Technical Writing with some university courses.
3-5 years of experience writing end-user documentation in the software industry.
