Belgrade Nikola Tesla with less passengers in 2009
For a fourth month in a row passenger figures at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport have continued to decrease. Serbia’s largest airport recently published its February 2009 results with passenger numbers decreasing by 10.2%. While 145.461 passengers passed through Nikola Tesla Airport in February 2008, during the same month this year 130.687passed through the airport, 14.774 passengers less. These negative results are primarily due to the global financial crisis and the impact it has had on airlines, with people travelling less. Aircraft movement (departures and arrivals) also decreased during February. Last year there were a total of 3.138 arrivals and departures while this year during February there was only 2.662 aircraft movement recorded. The airport also saw less cargo during February and only saw a mild positive increase in one sector - transported mail. When the first 2 months of 2009 are calculated, Belgrade Airport has had a 10.9% passenger decrease.
