Wouldn’t it be interesting if aircraft could talk. Our newest De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver ZK-BVR2 would surely have a story to tell. It was purchased new by the Government of the Republic of Ghana and delivered in May of 1961 for Ghana Air Force with whom it carried the serial G-207. Its next move was to Malaysia where it was listed as 9M-AXE and then down to Australia to become VH-IML on 01-08-1974 for Wira Kris Aerial Agricultural Services until being cancelled in September of 1981. It returned to the Australian register on 18-08-1983 as VH-AQA for Aquatic Airways Pty Ltd of Palm Beach, NSW; on floats of course. Nearly ten years later it moved to Sydney Harbour Seaplanes until being withdrawn to Bankstown Airport where a slow rebuild was started. This project was purchased by Frank Wright of Tauranga (well known for his Beaver rebuilds) and shipped to NZ about mid 2008. Frank has beavered away (so to speak) and has produced a better than new aircraft, finished in his distinctive colour scheme.
