A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Author to join my Hampshire based Aviation client.

The successful Technical Author is required to:
Produce clear, concise, accurate and technically verified information, instructions and support data for all Company products and, if required, for third party organisations.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
To produce accurate, concise and easily understood technical information in text form, to the correct formats and specifications with adherence to the Company style guide.
To write Technical, Operational, Maintenance and Repair information and instructions. This information is to be written in simple, clear, accurate, concise and logical form, compatible with other related information to permit safe and correct operation of Company products.
Produce accurate, concise and easily understood; operational, technical, maintenance and repair information conforming to required formats and specifications, including all related Health and Safety at Work requirements, to enable any customer or user to utilise Company products safely and economically.
To prepare and manage own project plans and co-ordinate with the Technical Publications Manager to complete project packages within detailed timescale and budget constraints.
To liaise with other departments and organisations to interchange relevant technical information.
To ensure that all work is approved, validated (where necessary) and vetted for quality, technical accuracy and verification prior to print and issue.

Skills/abilities
An Engineering Apprenticeship and education to a minimum of ONC/HNC level, or equivalent would be an advantage
Technical Authorship Training to C&G 536 part 1 and 2 standard.
A comprehensive knowledge of aeronautical engineering plus a full understanding of technical publications standards, specifications, procedures and production processes.
Must be familiar with, and be able to interpret and apply the following specifications:
1. Air Transport Association (ATA) 100 and AeroSpace and Defense (ASD) S1000D for Manufacturers Technical Documentation
2. Association Européenne des Constructeurs de Matérial Aérospatial (AECMA) 2000M and ATA 2100 (Digital Data Standards for Initial Provisioning and Aircraft Support)
3. AvP70
4. Def Stan 00/60
5. AECMA Simplified English
A comprehensive knowledge of aeronautical engineering plus a full understanding of technical publications standards, specifications, procedures and production processes.
Familiarity with Computer and Database applications, Word Processing and Desk Top Publishing packages including MS Windows, Adobe FrameMaker and the use of SGML (Standard Generalised Mark-up Language) with electronically structured documents.
Knowledge of Mechanical, Electro/Mechanical, Electrical and Avionic systems, preferably in an Aviation environment.

All candidates must be eligible for SC level security clearance
